My training with Marcin has been useful in a number of real life experiences over the years.

The most worrying situation was in Colombia. My partner and I were approached by a suspicious guy, who, when he got close, produced a knife and threatened us asking for money. Having attended Marcin’s knife defence seminars I know both the damage a knife can cause, and the advantage that a weapon gives an attacker.

I therefore made sure to create distance between myself and the attacker and used my voice to warn him, whilst my partner ran to get help. This display of calm put doubt into the mind of the attacker, who retreated allowing us to escape from the situation.

It lasted less than a couple of minutes from start to finish and I can only pay tribute to the skills I learned from Marcin for having equipped me with the tools needed to defend myself and loved ones in that and other situations.

His training most certainly got me out of a bad situation

Marcin is an exceptional instructor. I started training with him while recovering from a very serious injury (I’m a journalist and I had been shot through the chest in Afghanistan). Marcin took the time to understand my limitations, and adapted his teaching to help me regain my fitness and flexibility. He was patient with me, explaining every technique clearly, but also pushed me hard when he felt I was capable of more. As a result, I made a much faster than anticipated recovery, while also enjoying training in a friendly environment. Little did I realize I would eventually put Marcin’s lessons to use in a real- life situation.

One night a couple of years ago, I was out in London with a friend. We were wearing suits after a work event, and some youths decided we were easy targets. What started as some verbal threats moved shockingly quickly to an attempted assault, but I was able to instinctively react with an “educational block” and stop my attacker in his tracks. This one move gave us both enough time to run and get out of the situation. I’m not saying Marcin saved my life, but his training most certainly got me out of a bad situation.

I was delighted when Marcin told me he was developing an online training programme. I’ve been lucky enough to get a preview of some of the videos, and they are exactly what I expected – simple, clear, and logical. Now, even during lockdown, I can train.

It is the best personal decision I have made in my life

I was approaching fifty and finding it harder to motivate myself and keep fit with a busy family/work/life balance. I had read about krav maga in a number of articles and after some detailed research, I found Marcin. From my first session I was impressed with his passion and instructional flair for teaching self-defence. Since the lockdown in March I have carried on with online lessons. They have not lost any of their instructional value and it’s as if Marcin is in the same room motivating you still.
